Russian attack aircraft were forced to fly close to Ukrainian positions and suffer losses, explained Alexander Shtupun.
In the past 24 hours, a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft was shot down near Avdeevka. This is the fifth plane shot down in the Donetsk region in the past 10 days, said Alexander Shtupun, spokesman for the United Press Center of the Tauride Defense Forces, in a telethon on Thursday, October 19.
“With aviation support, the enemy continues to try to cordon off Avdiivka; in the past 24 hours, our soldiers have repelled three enemy attacks and shot down another enemy Su-25 attack aircraft. This is the fifth aircraft shot down in the Donetsk region in the last 10 days,” he said.
According to him, the Russians quite actively use attack front-line aviation to support their offensive units. These are almost subsonic aircraft forced to fly close to Ukrainian positions.
“The enemy also uses Su-35 and Su-34 in the entire Tauride direction; they do not enter the coverage area of our air defense, they shoot from a distance, they are afraid,” said Shtupun.
He also said that over the past 24 hours in the direction of Melitopol, fighters from the OSGV Tavria advanced southwest of the village of Verbovoye, Zaporozhye region, up to 400 meters in some directions.
According to him, in the past 24 hours the Russians have carried out two missile and 29 air strikes, carried out 34 military clashes and carried out 930 artillery attacks. For the most part, the places of these clashes were Avdeevka and Maryinka.
“The aggressors also unsuccessfully tried to carry out offensive actions in the Novokalinovoy and Pervomaisky areas. And in the Maryinsky direction, the aggressor activity increased, our defenders repelled 17 attacks of the invaders in one day. It was only in the area of Maryinka, and four more near Novomikhailovka – it is also close. In the direction of Shakhtarsky We caused losses in the area of Novomayorsky, this is in the Donetsk region, and we also continue to prevent enemies in the areas of Novodarevka and east of Malaya Tokmachka, Zaporozhye region,” said Shputun.
Let’s remember that since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost more than 290 thousand military personnel killed. In just one day on October 18, 630 invaders were removed.
