Jim Jordan, known for his negative stance on aid to Ukraine, was again not elected Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Moreover, the second vote showed that he was losing the support of his fellow Republican Party members.

CNN reports this.
In the second vote, which took place today, October 18, Jordan received 199 votes, with 22 Republicans voting against him. At the same time, Democratic candidate Hakeem Jeffries received 212 votes.
During the first vote for speaker yesterday, October 17, Jordan was not supported by 20 Republicans.
According to CNN, opponents of Jordan’s speakership are deploying a strategy aimed at forcing him out of the race – they are deliberately spreading their “no” votes across several ballots.
Thus, one Republican who voted for Jordan in the first two elections told the publication that a group of his fellow party members planned to gradually break away, trying to demonstrate growing opposition to his speakership, and they were “effectively drawing lots” as to who would vote for Jordan initially and then will vote against him in subsequent votes.
Jordan lost the votes of four Republicans in the second vote, and one House member said more would follow suit if there was another vote.
It is noted that today, in addition to four new votes against Jordan from the Republican Party, there were two Republican votes that changed from the first round in his favor – Victoria Spartz and Doug LaMalfa. Additionally, Congressman Gus Bilirakis, who was not present for yesterday’s vote, also voted for Jordan today.
