The parties discussed the issues of food security and the development of new logistics routes for the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of Romania.
President Vladimir Zelensky met on Wednesday, October 18, with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu, who is visiting Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
The President expressed gratitude to Romania for its significant practical assistance to Ukraine from the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Zelensky highly appreciated the results of his recent visit to Romania, as well as the first joint meeting of the governments of the two countries held in Kyiv. The head of state expressed his belief that Ukrainian-Romanian relations will continue to deepen.
“Today, the strategic decision we discussed was made about the Romanian language. I think this is the answer to how we will work together and we want to work together,” said the head of state.
The President outlined the main priorities for Romania’s continued defense support to Ukraine, particularly considering the need to ensure the protection of the southern region of our country and the Danube port infrastructure from air attacks of Russia.
The issue of cooperation between the two states in the context of ensuring food security was discussed, in particular, emphasis was placed on the importance of developing new logistics transit routes for Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of Romania .
Zelensky especially mentioned the assistance of the Romanian side in the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Israel to Romania.
Let’s remember that on October 10, Zelensky visited Romania, after which he announced that a new grain corridor will soon start operating. On October 12, the Romanian government approved a decree regulating the import of four grain crops from Ukraine.
