The Jerusalem Post reported this on October 17.
Military intelligence under my command failed to warn of a Hamas terrorist attack. We failed our most important mission, and as head of military intelligence, I bear full responsibility for the failure,” Khaliwa said.
The military man also added that later an investigation into the incident will be conducted and appropriate conclusions will be drawn.
But now there is only one task – to fight back and win! – said Khaliwa.
The day before, the head of Israel’s General Security Service Shin Bet (aka Shin Bet), Ronen Bar, took personal responsibility for failing to prevent an attack by Hamas militants on the country. The head of the intelligence service also said that after the war an investigation into what happened would be conducted.
Prior to this, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces, Herze Halevi, admitted that the military failed to cope with its responsibilities during the attack by Hamas militants.
Hamas militants, controlled by the Gaza Strip, attacked Israel on October 7. They fired about three thousand missiles across the country, after which they broke into the border areas, killing and taking hostage local residents and military personnel.
The Israel Defense Forces responded by launching massive bombardments of the Gaza Strip and preparing for a ground operation.
