The Russian dictatorship said it was taking such steps because of the US’s “irresponsible attitude” towards global security issues. Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said this before the debate and parliamentary vote on the issue of revoking ratification, Reuters reports.
Russian President Putin’s manual added that Moscow ratified the 1996 treaty in 2000. According to him, Washington did not ratify the document because of its “irresponsible attitude towards global security issues.” The official said Russia wants to “preserve global strategic parity.”
According to the agency, despite the fact that Russia is withdrawing ratification, it remains a party to it and will continue to cooperate with the test ban organization and the global monitoring system that notifies the world of any nuclear test.
Let us recall that in September it became known that North Korea adopted an amendment to the Constitution establishing the country’s nuclear status. According to the amendment, North Korea is developing nuclear weapons to ensure its right to exist and deter war.
