Foreign Ministry on grain promises: Lavrov’s words are empty

Ukrainian authorities do not believe in Russia’s promises of security guarantees for ships with Ukrainian grain in the Black Sea after it is removed. So the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko commented negotiations between the Russian Federation and Turkey, held on Wednesday, June 8, in Ankara.

“Lavrov’s words are empty. Ukraine has clearly outlined its position on ports: it needs military equipment to protect the coast and a Navy mission to patrol export routes in the Black Sea,” he said. he wrote on Twitter.

He added that Russia should not be allowed to use grain corridors to attack southern Ukraine.

As reported, Turkish and Russian Foreign Ministers Mevlet Cavusoglu and Sergey Lavrov discussed the issue of unblocking Ukrainian ports and creating corridors in the Black Sea for grain exports.

“When and if Ukraine goes into demining and allows the removal of ships from its ports, we will not use this situation in favor of a special operation. These are guarantees of the President of Russia and we are ready to make it’s formal in one way or another, ”Lavrov said.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said he did not trust the promises of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the grain corridors.
