On October 16, the Anti-Corruption Bureau announced that it had begun an internal investigation into Deulin’s participation in an event on the occasion of Lawyer’s Day, which took place at the Law Academy.
Kivalov, suspected by NABU of bribing judges, awarded the director of the Odessa department on October 8 on the occasion of Lawyer’s Day.
In June 2021, NABU detectives conducted searches in the administrative building of the Odessa Law Academy, headed by Kivalov.
Investigative actions took place within the framework of criminal proceedings about the possible embezzlement of budget money on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) during the renovation of university premises.
Sergei Kivalov himself appears in the case of “Vovk’s tapes,” which is currently being heard by the High Anti-Corruption Court. According to the Mirror of the Week, NABU recorded a conversation between the head of the Kiev District Administrative Court Pavel Vovk and Sergei Kivalov, where the judge asks the latter to support the claim against the High Qualification Commission of Judges if suddenly “someone from the Suvorov District Court of Odessa comes to see him.”
