According to Ripke, the Russian plan is to create a large pocket by bypassing Avdeevka from the west. To do this, they wanted to capture the villages of Severnoye, Stepnoye and Berdich. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to stop the advance of the invaders near Severny and the railway line at Stepnoy.
At the same time, the analyst believes that, despite the losses, the Russian troops do not intend to abandon the attack on Avdeevka.
