Despite popular belief, the most difficult battle was not the Wagnerites, but the special combat unit of the GRU of the Russian Federation.
In the brutal battles in Bakhmut, the Russian troops occasionally got the better of the Ukrainian defenders, but, despite popular belief, this was not the merit of the Wagnerites. The commander of the MANPADS group of the special forces “Artan” of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Alexander “Lyuty”, spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“There we met a special combat unit of the GRU of the Russian Federation. They arrived in Bakhmut in the first half of January. We had fire contact at a distance of 5-10 meters. Roughly speaking, they were sitting on the opposite side of the fence From to us. This was the closest contact with the enemy in my experience. Our artillery supported us in every possible way, but the enemy had a quantitative advantage, the mines rained down one after another,” said Alexander.
These warriors are considered by “Fierce” to be perhaps the strongest enemy, that is, one of the most dangerous groups in the enemy’s army.
The commander said that the “grushnikov” unit in Bakhmut consisted of several hundred people, which stood out strongly against the background of other Russians.

“Above all, they pushed our positions in Bakhmut. They, like us, did not have any identification marks or documents on them. But they countered with others. In case of retreating to the positions, they tried to take themselves. wounded, and “200s”. There are also “Wagnerites”. But you know what to expect from them. But when the GRU got involved, it was difficult, because they showed more effectiveness than professional that “Wagner” – explained the interlocutor. .
We remind you that the “Wagnerites” left Bakhmut at the end of May.
Recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported successes in the direction of Bakhmut.
