The adopted PACE resolution calls for Vladimir Putin to be recognized as illegitimate after the expiration of his current presidential term.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) recognized Russia as a dictatorship. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba in Twitter on Friday, October 13th.
“I welcome the powerful PACE resolution, which recognizes Russia as a dictatorship. More than 20 years of one-man unconstitutional rule has led to crimes at home and abroad. PACE calls on all states of the Council of Europe to recognize Putin as illegitimate after the expiration of his current term,” he wrote.
In turn, MP Alexei Goncharenko said from the PACE session hall that the Assembly called on “all countries to execute the arrest warrant for Putin issued by the ICC and arrest him.”
“They also called on all countries, after his presidential term expires in March next year, to consider him illegitimate and stop all contact with him,” he wrote on Telegram.
At the same time, all PACE delegations voted unanimously, supporting all Ukrainian amendments to the resolution.
It was previously known that if re-elected, Putin would surpass Joseph Stalin in terms of time in power. According to the new constitution of the Russian Federation, he can lead the country until he is 83 years old.
