This was announced by the country’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Alliance meeting in Brussels, writes Stern.
We are talking about supporting regional defense plans with specific forces, Pistorius noted.
We are talking not only about 35 thousand soldiers in a state of high or maximum readiness, but also about 200 aircraft, frigates, corvettes and many other military equipment. NATO High Command Europe will be able to request the use of these troops from 2025.
We are de facto going all-in,” Pistorius said.
The new defense model of the military-political bloc involves maintaining 300 thousand soldiers in a state of high readiness for possible NATO missions in the future. Today, NATO countries provide about 40 thousand soldiers for the Alliance’s rapid response.
