As a result of artillery shelling, which the Russian army once again subjected to front-line Nikopol on Wednesday, four elderly local residents were killed.
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko.
Klimenko wrote on social media that a fourth body was recovered from the ruins of the Nikopol gymnasium. The clearance of the rubble has been completed.
Thus, according to the minister, a 72-year-old man and a woman aged 69, 67 and 60 died in the gymnasium.
According to preliminary data, the gymnasium building was partially destroyed, 42 private residential buildings, 18 outbuildings, a store, power lines, a car, and solar panels were damaged.
Nikopol stands on the former bank of the Kakhovka Reservoir and since the beginning of the war it has actually been on the front line: the opposite bank is occupied by the Russian army.
