Belgium will also continue to train pilots and offer maintenance services to the entire coalition F-16 fleet.
Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said Belgium will send some of its F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of military aid in 2025. The country will also participate in the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces pilots. He said this on Bel RTL radio.
“Belgium will send F-16 fighters to Ukraine from 2025,” he said.
According to Dedonder, such transfer of combat aircraft will be carried out “depending on the increase in power of our new F-35s.”
The minister added that Belgium will also continue to train pilots and offer maintenance for the entire coalition’s F-16 fleet. We are talking about training pilots in Belgium, Denmark and, possibly, in one of the European Union countries.
“We are in the process of enabling Ukraine to modernize its armed forces. And I think what we are proposing here is important and better than simply announcing the delivery of some F-16s,” said the head of Belgian Defense Ministry. .
It was previously reported that Belgium will lend Denmark its F-16s to train Ukrainian pilots.
The media also wrote that Belgium intends to transfer missiles purchased from Germany to Ukraine.
