The President of Ukraine described some achievements of his visit to Romania and thanked the leadership and people of the sister countries.
In an evening video message to the people of Ukraine, President Vladimir Zelensky spoke about the results of his visit to Romania. This was reported by the presidential press service.
“A very high-quality visit to Romania. Fruitful,” Zelensky stressed.
The program of the visit included meetings with President Iohannis, heads of chambers of the Romanian Parliament, representatives, and the Prime Minister of Romania.
The president called the arms deals his first victory.
“I can’t reveal everything now, but the shells are a plus, the increase in air defense is a plus. We are still preparing some things. They will be powerful. A Pilot Training Center for the F-16 is being built in Romania, and Ukrainian pilots were among the first to study,” – said the video message.
The second achievement is the transition to the level of strategic partnership.
“This political formulation has a very clear meaning. As President Iohannis told me, we can count on Romania. Romania can certainly count on Ukraine. Together we will greatly strengthen our region. We are already working a critical contribution to global food security through cooperation with the Danube ports and the east of the Black Sea. There will be more cooperation. We expand our transport corridors, there will be more jobs and economic opportunities. Today we signed a joint statement by the presidents outlining how we will move forward,” Zelensky said.
Third, the agreements on the opening of a new railway line through Moldova, which will be a new transport corridor.
“Together with Moldova, we are moving forward with the start of EU membership negotiations – with the full support of Romania. I am grateful for this. In the Romanian Parliament, the majority is for us. The Government of Romania – in the coming that week we are preparing a joint meeting of officials from Ukraine and Romania. I am grateful to Mr. President Iohannis, the entire class and political society of Romania. Our strategic relations are a new force for the entire Black region Sea,” Zelensky said in his address.
