Several tens of thousands of shells are planned to be delivered to Ukraine in 2023, and the rest in 2024.
The German concern Rheinmetall received another large order for 150 thousand artillery shells as part of an agreement with the Bundeswehr. Although the customer is the German government, all the ammunition is intended for Ukraine, the company announced on Tuesday, October 10.
The contract provides for the supply of more than 100 thousand 155-mm shells from the Spanish subsidiary of the concern – Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, as well as additional high-explosive fragmentation shells DM 121.
The value of the order is estimated at several hundred million euros. Several tens of thousands of shells are planned to be delivered in 2023, and the rest in 2024.
The recently concluded framework agreement between the German government and Rheinmetall for the supply of 155-mm projectiles will run until 2029, and the potential order volume is approximately 1.2 billion euros. The first orders for ammunition were received after the contract was signed.
Let’s remember that a week ago Rheinmetall also received a large order for Ukraine, related to shells.
Earlier, Rheinmetall confirmed the delivery of the new generation Luna NG air reconnaissance system to Ukraine by the end of 2023.
