Additional funding is needed to increase US munitions production capabilities and pay for their production.
US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said Congress must approve additional funding to expedite the transfer of ammunition to both Ukraine and Israel. Reuters wrote this on Monday, October 9.
“What is very important, especially on the issue of ammunition and our ability to potentially support both the Israelis and the Ukrainians at the same time, is additional funding from Congress to increase our capabilities, increase production and pay for ammunition himself … We need more support from Congress. And I hope we will see him soon,” he said.
The minister made these comments as the House of Representatives is busy electing a new Speaker. Wormuth said the army is still evaluating Israeli requests for support.
“We need more support from Congress. So I hope we see that soon,” she added.
