It will take at least six months to eliminate the sea route for Ukrainian grain exports, said the deputy minister.
Turkey’s plan for grain corridors in the Black Sea will not work, as it will take six months to clean up the coast on its own. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky at the conference of the International Grain Council, reports The Guardian.
Even if the ports are unblocked by Russia, thousands of mines will remain floating at sea, he said.
Vysotsky specified that Ukraine could export a maximum of 2 million tons of grain per month compared to 6 million tons before the war.
“I think we have reached the limit. The maximum volume we can export is about 2 million tonnes per month,” he said.
According to Russian media, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey have agreed on a scheme to unblock the ports of Odessa for the export of Ukrainian grain. It is expected to be approved this week.
In Turkey, they say there is progress in negotiations on grain corridors in the Black Sea, but mistrust in Ukraine and the Russian Federation is hindering.
