China has begun to develop a new generation of nuclear submarines.

Analysts and regional defense attaches say there is growing evidence that China will build a Type 096 ballistic missile submarine before the end of the decade. The submarine will be silent thanks to Russian technologies. This was reported by Reuters.
Research discussed at a May conference at the U.S. Naval War College and published in August by the college’s China Institute of Naval Studies suggests the new vessels will be much more difficult to monitor. Seven analysts and three Asia-based attaches say this will happen.
According to naval intelligence analyst and retired submariner Christopher Carlson, China’s new Type 096 submarine “will be a nightmare” for the United States and its allies because it will be “very, very difficult to detect.”
Let us recall that on August 21, a Chinese submarine could have fallen into a trap designed to capture British and American submarines in the Yellow Sea. The media wrote about the death of 55 Chinese sailors.
