This was reported by NBC News and Politico.
Politico reported, citing US officials, that the US is working to fulfill Israel’s request for urgent arms supplies. What type of weapon we are talking about is not specified, since it is related to operational security.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in an interview with CNN that the United States could announce additional assistance to Israel as early as Sunday, October 8.
We are considering specific additional requests that the Israelis have made. I think you’ll likely hear more about that later today,” Blinken said.
He said President Joe Biden has directed to make sure the US provides Israel with everything it needs to counter Hamas attacks.
In response to Republican accusations that the Biden administration is trying to placate Iran and that the unfreezing of Iranian funds contributed to the current situation in Israel, Blinken noted that money from the unfrozen funds intended for humanitarian purposes has not been spent.
He also said that several Americans were killed in the attack on Israel. Blinken on Sunday said the attack on Israel by Hamas was a “terrorist attack carried out by a terrorist organization.”
Hamas launched more rocket attacks into Israel on Sunday, and the Israeli military said it would evacuate border areas and search for militants.
