In total we are talking about at least 450 minutes. The head of the joint press center of the Operational Command “South”, Natalya Gumenyuk, spoke about this on air at the national telethon, the Ukrinform agency reports.
They replaced the sea even from the beginning of the full-scale invasion, then there was already talk about 450 sea mines that could be scattered throughout the economic zone and territorial sea of Ukraine. During this year alone, more than 30 mines of different types and different threats have already been discovered,” Gumenyuk noted.
According to her, the presence of a large number of mines in the Black Sea was taken into account when opening the humanitarian corridor. In particular, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have established special conditions for shipowners who decide to use this corridor.
Gumenyuk also reported that Ukraine is discussing the need for additional guarantees from international partners, as was the case with the Grain Initiative, when our state was supported by the UN and Turkey.
This caused additional troubles for Russia regarding possible provocations, for example, in the air, which made such attacks by tactical aircraft in the direction of the grain corridor impossible. Therefore, we count on the support of our partners, work independently and continue to offer creative solutions to clear the sea of mines and ensure security in this region,” she emphasized.
