Washington believes that one of the ways for the aggressor country to retaliate for the war against Ukraine is to use frozen Russian assets. Most Russian money is now in the EU, not the US. This was stated by United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to the State Department website.
We are looking at what legal authority we may have to actually use these assets for Ukraine. My vision is that you broke it – you paid for it. And therefore, the Russians, having broken it, must pay for it,” he noted.
The US Secretary of State also noted that 50 countries are involved in active support of Ukraine.
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, has already responded to this. He emphasized that this is a very good signal.
This is a very positive signal. Anyone who kills, destroys, violates international law and the UN Charter must lose,” he wrote on social networks.
Let us recall that on October 3, President of the United States of America Joe Biden held a meeting with NATO and G7 partners to support Ukraine after the US Congress adopted a temporary government spending bill, which, in particular, did not include assistance to Ukraine. Biden called for continued assistance to the Ukrainian people and called on the EU and NATO countries to help the Ukrainian people.
