Swedish media reported on the morning of October 4 that the Royal Academy of Sciences, probably by some mistake, sent out the names of the prize winners by email several hours before the official announcement of the Nobel laureates in chemistry. The list included Mungi Bavendi, Louis Bruce and Alexey Ekimov.
The Royal Academy of Sciences then said that the decision on who will receive the prize has not yet been made, and that they should wait for the official announcement.
