On Thursday, October 5, the Kiev City Council will appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the repayment of the state’s debt to the capital. If the difference in tariffs for heat and water supply is not compensated, then problems should be expected. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced this on October 3 on Telegram.
On Thursday, the Kyiv City Council will appeal to the government to repay the state’s debt to the capital (as well as to all communities) to compensate for the difference in tariffs for heat and water supply. Otherwise, the heating season may be in jeopardy. The situation is really very serious,” the mayor noted.
According to the mayor, this debt, which the government promises to pay off, has existed for two years. As of October 3, the amount is UAH 6.8 billion. Klitschko noted that the government promised to compensate for this money and there was a corresponding instruction from the president. However, the capital has not yet received the money.
The mayor emphasized that Kyiv is not able to cover such debts on its own, and heating enterprises are operating at huge losses.
Let us remind you that on September 25, the head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Alexey Chernyshev, said that Ukraine will get through the winter for the first time using its own gas. He also reported that in 2023, Naftogaz made a record number of new wells and will continue to do so in 2024.
Earlier, Naftogaz called for economical use of natural gas and making timely payments.
