Last year, Ukraine was granted candidate status for joining the European Union. After that, our country was given some conditions that must be met for membership.
Negotiations on Ukraine’s entry into the European Union could begin this fall or early next year. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky announced this on Monday, October 2, ČTK reports.
He noted that the interested parties discussed the practical steps for Ukraine’s accession to the EU the day before in Kyiv.
“It was clearly said that if Ukraine is in the European Union, it will be a clear guarantee of security, because the European Union is also a peaceful project. But it is true that Ukraine must change, adapt its law to the law of the EU “It’s still a long way off,” said Lipovsky.
Lipovsky stressed that the Czech Republic is interested in opening negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU in the fall or early next year.
“This is a technical process, during which an assessment will be made of how ready Ukraine is. It will be clear where it should work,” said the head of Czech diplomacy.
The European Union will soon expand from Portuguese Lisbon to Ukrainian Lugansk. This forecast was voiced by German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock.
The European Commission said that there is a real hope of starting negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU in the winter.
