Earlier, the new British Defense Minister Grant Shepps said that British instructors were planning to be sent to Ukraine. However, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak denied this claim. He emphasized that his colleague’s words were “misunderstood” and “distorted information.” This was reported by Sky News.
According to the head of the British government, British military instructors may indeed arrive in Ukraine, but this will happen only after the end of the war. Now these specialists train members of the Defense Forces only in the UK.
I think this has been misrepresented. What the Secretary of Defense was saying is that it is quite possible that one day in the future we will conduct some of this training in Ukraine. But this is something that concerns the long term, not the here and now, he noted.
Sunak added that he was proud of the Ukrainian military training in the UK.
Let us recall that in July the British Ministry of Defense reported that 18 thousand people had already completed the basic training program for the Ukrainian military. The infantrymen were trained as part of Operation Interflex, learning to “survive and destroy the enemy in the fight against an unlawful invasion of their home country.”
