The New York Times writes about this.
Quite inexpensive civilian drones, which are used at the front, are most often produced in China, but since September 1, Beijing has limited the export of components for them. Chinese manufacturers willing to sell UAVs under such conditions often require buyers to use a complex network of intermediaries, and in some cases Ukrainians have to resort to smuggling to circumvent Western export controls.
According to customs reports, direct deliveries of Chinese drones to Ukraine from January to June amounted to the equivalent of just over 200 thousand dollars. Over the same period, Russia purchased similar drones for $14.5 million.
The British Royal Institute of Defense Studies estimated that Ukrainian troops spend about 10 thousand drones every month. Replenishing their supplies is becoming increasingly difficult.
