Since the beginning of autumn, the number of coronavirus cases in the United States has begun to grow rapidly and has almost reached the levels of the first wave that passed in the spring of 2020.
In the US, coronavirus vaccine prices have skyrocketed. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) pays more than $80 for two doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Newsweek wrote this on Friday, September 29.
It was noted that in the summer of 2020, the CDC purchased the Pfizer vaccine at a price of $19.50 per dose and the Moderna vaccine at $15.25 per dose. The CDC then purchased 100 million of each vaccine.
By the summer of 2022, the CDC had purchased 66 million doses of the Moderna vaccine at $26.36 per dose and 105 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine at $30.48 per dose. Now they have increased in price again.
The publication noted that last summer, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra sent a letter to Moderna and Pfizer demanding that the drug be priced at a “reasonable price that reflects the revenues generated by the government’s investment of the US.”
At the same time, Moderna is reportedly considering raising the price of its COVID-19 vaccine to $110-130 per dose.
Before that, the Biden administration said federal funds would no longer be used to buy coronavirus vaccines. These will be purchased on a commercial basis.
We remind you that on May 5, the World Health Organization announced the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. And on July 1, quarantine was lifted in Ukraine due to Covid-19. Over the past few weeks, the Ministry of Health has noted a gradual increase in the incidence of the coronavirus disease in Ukraine. On average, 2-2.5 thousand cases of Covid-19 are recorded every week.
