A representative of the Polish government said that the embargo will remain until Ukrainian grain ceases to negatively affect the Polish agricultural market.
Poland does not plan to lift the embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products in the near future, even if Ukraine withdraws its complaint from the World Trade Organization. Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller announced this on radiozet.pl, writing Interfax-Ukraine.
“The embargo will remain in place until we come to the conclusion that Ukrainian grain will not affect our agricultural market, which is unlikely to happen in the near future,” Muller emphasized.
He said that Poland is ready for negotiations with Ukraine, but in the current situation the embargo remains.
“Ukraine’s withdrawal from the WTO complaint will be a good gesture, which will show that Ukraine wants partnership negotiations, and not procedural talks,” added the representative of the Polish government.
Asked whether Poland would agree to the Ukrainian side’s proposal, Muller said it was “unacceptable” for Warsaw.
“In fact, Ukraine wants to import these goods based on licenses, but without defining clear limits. This will destabilize our market again,” explained Muller.
We remind you that Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia asked Ukraine to withdraw its complaint to the World Trade Organization due to the ban on the import of agricultural products.
