The system with a 50 kW laser combat module is designed to destroy drones, missiles, artillery shells and aircraft at short ranges. At least that’s what the developer says. At the test site, the system performed well and “spread the field with downed UAVs,” although there were some problems with countering missiles and shells.
The advantages of DE M-SHORAD are that it does not require a special support vehicle or expensive ammunition. Everything you need is built into Striker. These four prototypes are being evaluated for effectiveness by the 4th Battalion, 60th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, located at Fort Sill, near Oklahoma.
