The Hollywood actors’ strike continues in full swing and could directly affect the games industry
Lately, Hollywood is more famous for its strikes than for its productions! So much so, that the actors’ strike remains firm and strong and could affect the games industry. This is because SAG-AFTRA, the category’s union, voted in favor of a possible stoppage of actors’ work for games, if negotiations do not take place.
According to Variety (via Jovem Nerd), this decision was taken after a vote that resulted in 98% of votes in favor of a possible strike. It is important to highlight that it is not because of the result that there will actually be a strike. In this case, the vote is to authorize the negotiating committee to declare a strike, if necessary.
The actors, together with the union, seek better working conditions with large gaming companies, such as EA, Activision, Insomniac, WB Games, among others.
Even so, last Monday, the 25th, it was announced that the writers’ strike, which had already lasted four months, would probably end this Tuesday, the 26th. So far, the strike has not officially ended.
