Comments from a correspondent for Polish television TVP in Brussels began to circulate in the Polish media about the alleged promise of Germany and France to provide Ukraine with early accession to the EU in exchange for the “overthrow” of the current government of Poland, Nikolenko noted.
The Foreign Ministry speaker emphasized that this information is not true.
We categorically reject such insinuations. The Ukrainian side did not receive any such proposals; there was and is no intention to interfere in the internal affairs of Poland,” Nikolenko emphasized.
Moreover, Ukraine highly appreciates Poland’s support in repelling Russian aggression and supporting our path to membership in the EU and NATO. We are also grateful to the Poles who show solidarity with the Ukrainians,” he added.
As an example of gratitude from Ukraine, Nikolenko cited the recent presentation of state awards to Polish citizens by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky:
- journalist Bianca Zalewska (awarded the Order of Princess Olga, II degree);
- volunteer physician Damian Dudi (awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd degree).
Zelensky presented these awards in Lublin on September 23, returning from a working visit to Canada.
We are convinced that efforts to drive a wedge into the high level of respect and cooperation of our peoples will be unsuccessful,” the Foreign Ministry speaker emphasized. “We call on our Polish friends not to succumb to attempts at provocation, to work together to effectively counter common challenges.
