Ukraine actually received the first American Abrams tanks. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on Telegram following a meeting with the government and the military on Monday, September 25.
“The Abrams are already in Ukraine and preparing to strengthen our brigades. I thank the allies for fulfilling the agreements! We are looking for new contracts, which expand the geography of supplies,” the president wrote.
According to him, at the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, made a report on eliminating the consequences of shelling in Odessa and other populated areas.
“The occupation of the Odessa region is a priority in all my air defense negotiations,” the president assured.
The issue of preparing for winter is also considered. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal spoke about the protection of critical infrastructure, the preparation of shelters and Points of Indestructibility.
A report on the military situation was made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, as well as the heads of intelligence and special services.
Earlier, the media reported that the first Abrams arrived in Ukraine. This happened several months earlier than initial estimates.
And the Pentagon reported that Ukraine will receive 120-mm ammunition with depleted uranium for Abrams tanks.
