The United States and Ukraine signed a common Memorandum of Cooperation to ensure its sustainability. The agreement provides for the allocation of $522 million. to strengthen the energy system, of which 100 million dollars. will be accepted if certain conditions are met. This was announced by the US Embassy in Ukraine.
They want to improve the sustainability of the energy system by restoring critical infrastructure, introducing distributed generation, reforming the energy sector and facilitating Ukraine’s post-war transition to a low-carbon, competitive and EU-integrated energy economy.
It is planned, in particular, to restore the damaged electricity, heat and gas infrastructure of Ukraine, including the purchase and installation of main autotransformers. It is also planned to install distributed gas generation (including American-made CCGT turbines). Cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy and the preparation and implementation of reforms in the energy sector in accordance with EU legislation are also expected.
Let us remind you that the Russian Federation has again begun to attack energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. In particular, on September 21, rockets were fired at Rivne, as a result of which part of the regional center and Rivne district were left without electricity for a while.
