An agent network of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces operated in the region. The attackers collected intelligence data on the geolocation of fortified areas and the routes of movement of columns of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including by rail. They also collected incriminating evidence on the Ukrainian military located in the front-line territories of the region. They were especially interested in officials from the TCC and military medical commissions. Russia tried to recruit compromised individuals. The SBU press center reported this on September 25.
Also, enemy agents monitored the consequences of Russian air strikes on Kharkov, and then went to the “arrival” sites. They made “photo reports” and sent them to the occupiers.
Four attackers have already been detained at their place of residence. The group was led by a local resident who had previously fled to Russia. Evidence of activities against Ukraine was found in the houses of the defendants.
Three detainees were informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28, part 2 art. 111 (high treason), and the fourth – under Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of ammunition) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face varying terms of imprisonment, including life imprisonment.
We would like to remind you that on September 18 in Dnieper, counterintelligence of the SBU detained an FSB agent in Dnieper, posing as a military man in order to freely spy on the Armed Forces. He collected intelligence on the movements of Ukrainian Armed Forces units involved in the counter-offensive on the eastern front.
