Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau asked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to respect Poland’s sovereignty following his proposal to tighten border controls on migrants. Polish Radio reported it.
The Polish minister noted that the German Chancellor’s latest statements indicate an attempt to interfere in Poland’s internal affairs and the ongoing election campaign in the country.
Rau said that Scholz’s latest statements violate the principles of sovereign equality of states, which is the basis of good neighborly relations and friendly cooperation with Poland.
The Polish authorities emphasize that violations of the issuance of visas in Poland are random and are investigated by the services. Seven people were detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau as part of this investigation.
Let’s recall that Scholz advocated strengthening control over illegal migration and threatened Poland with continuing border controls. The German Chancellor has called for clarification about possible irregularities in the issuance of visas in Poland.
In the first half of the year, more than 12 thousand illegal migrants were arrested at the Polish border.
