In the first half of the year, more than 12 thousand illegal migrants were arrested at the Polish border.
A migration scandal erupted between Germany and Poland. Berlin threatens Warsaw with resuming border controls. Bloomberg reported this on Saturday, September 23.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on the Polish government to investigate reports of hundreds of thousands of illegally issued work visas. He promised to discuss this issue with the Polish government, warning of the possibility of introducing border controls between states.
The fact that Germany may continue border controls with Poland and the Czech Republic was also stated by German Interior Minister Nancy Feser.
Both Scholz and Feser have previously resisted calls to introduce border controls, and the comments highlight the pressure the government is facing to respond to the growing number of undocumented arrivals.
According to German government data, more than 12,000 illegal migrants were arrested at the Polish border in the first half of this year.
The European Union is also looking into reports that migrants entered Poland on illegal work visas where they allegedly received bribes. The Polish government has long been critical of Germany’s liberal immigration policies and has refused to adopt a common European refugee policy.
We remind you that earlier in Poland they said that Belarus helps illegal immigrants to cross the border.
