Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are gaining ground on the left flank near Verbovoy and continue to move further, Alexander Tarnavsky said.
Ukrainian troops broke through the Russian defenses near the village of Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye region, which is one of the main settlements in the confrontation in the direction of Melitopol. The commander of the group of Tavria troops, Brigadier General Alexander Tarnavsky, said this in an interview with CNN, published on Saturday, September 23.
“We have a breakthrough on the left flank (near Verbovoy) and we continue to advance,” he said.
Tarnavsky noted that Ukrainian troops are not moving as quickly as expected, like “in the movies about World War II.”
“The main thing is not to lose this initiative. And, well, not to lose it in training, through actions,” added the general.
