The new line is currently operating in pilot mode. The Danube Shipping Company is developing a long-term business model to keep cargo flowing.
PrJSC Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDS) is starting a pilot project to transport grains from the Lower Danube to the port of Constanta (Romania). This was announced by the General Director of the UDP Dmitry Moskalenko.
“We are starting a long-term cooperation with a major global grain trader. The shipping company’s barge caravans, which are going to Serbia with Ukrainian ore, will start delivering grain on the way back,” he said.
According to the official, after the iron ore was unloaded in Smederevo, the first caravan was being washed. After which the ships are ready for loading in the Hungarian port of Csepel. Then they headed to Constanta, Izmail and again to the Middle Danube.
The General Director of the UDP added that the Danube Shipping Company is building a long-term business model to maintain the flow of cargo even after the resumption of full operation of the ports of Greater Odessa. For this, the company is looking for sending strategic partners and developing a work model in the Middle Danube.
We remind you that the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has launched a project called the Danube Grain Route, which provides for the transportation of agricultural products to the Romanian port of Constanta in 2022.
As reported, Ukraine is expanding the international humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine to the ports of the Danube, within the framework of which food is sent to African and Asian countries.
