The reason for this decision by the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency is that the Russian airline is on the EU blacklist.
In Georgia, Russia was denied permission to fly. The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported that the airline has already submitted applications twice, but without success, writes News Georgia.
The first rejection was on May 16 regarding an application to operate flights on the route Moscow – Tbilisi – Moscow. The Russian carrier received a second refusal on September 14. We are talking about the flights Moscow – Tbilisi – Moscow, Moscow – Batumi – Moscow and St. Petersburg – Tbilisi – St. Petersburg.
The reason for this decision by the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency is that the Russian airline is on the EU blacklist.
“Accordingly, the specified airline will not perform regular air transport in the direction of Georgia. Flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation are and will be performed only by airlines that are not on the EU blacklist,” the aviation regulator said in a statement.
It is also reported that flights will not be conducted on aircraft whose manufacturers have stopped technical support: this means limited access to technical and flight documentation, as well as the provision of spare parts.
In April 2022, the European Commission blacklisted 20 Russian airlines for re-registration of Western-made aircraft, but information about flights to Tbilisi appears on the Moscow airport website from October 14: Russian airlines hope to receive permission.
We remind you that Estonia has given time to the owners of vehicles with Russian license plates to get them out of the country.
