US President Joe Biden praised the perseverance and courage of the Ukrainian people in the face of the massive aggression of the Russian Federation.
The United States remains committed to supporting Kyiv in its defense against Russian aggression. The President of the United States said this on Thursday, September 21, welcoming Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the White House, CNN reports.
“I made it clear earlier this week at the UN General Assembly that no country in the world can be truly safe unless we really stand up and defend the independence of Ukraine in the face of this brutality and aggression of Russia,” said Biden.
He reaffirmed the United States’ long-term commitment to Ukraine’s security and stressed that the United States has begun the process of “formalizing our long-term commitment to Ukraine’s security” with other G7 leaders and other international partners .
The US President also praised the “tremendous courage” of the people of Ukraine and added that Ukrainians inspire the world.
In front of the White House, Biden and his wife Jill met Vladimir and Elena Zelensky.
As is known, this is Zelensky’s second visit to the United States since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and it comes as the US Congress considers the White House’s request for an additional $24 billion in aid to Ukraine.
