In Ukraine, a bill was developed to write off mortgages and consumer loans if a house or car was destroyed during the war. Details of the legislative initiative were announced by the head of the parliamentary committee on tax and customs policy, Daniil Getmantsev, on the air of a telethon on Sunday, June 5th.
Thus, he noted that on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky, a meeting was held with the head of the National Bank, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, during which the participants agreed that this measure is timely and should be implemented. .
Getmantsev named some important provisions of the bill that were developed:

the initiative concerned only honest borrowers, that is, those who paid their mortgage obligations in the time before the war;

the write-off will take effect at the request of the person taking out the mortgage loan;

must prove that the property acquired under a consumer or mortgage loan was destroyed.
The head of the committee stressed that the state will allocate funds for the implementation of the bill – by analogy with compensation for destroyed or destroyed / damaged housing. However, he clarified, so far the source of funding is still being ascertained: it is either the state budget or the assistance of partners.
“The bill is under development and will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada,” Hetmantsev said, adding that the list of assets on which debts can be written off could be expanded, but has so far been unified. we will talk about real estate and cars.
Earlier it was reported that the citizens of Ukraine have already filed 135,000 applications for damaged and destroyed property during the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. In early May, the total area of damaged housing was 9.4 million square meters. m.
