The “formation of the Armenian armed forces and illegal Armenian armed groups” located in the Karabakh region lay down their weapons.
Azerbaijan has stopped taking “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The country’s Ministry of Defense announced this on Wednesday, September 20.
“The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported that considering the appeal of representatives of Armenian residents of Karabakh, received through the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement was reached to suspend anti-terrorist measures,” said the statement.
Baku said the parties agreed to the following conditions:
-
“The formation of the armed forces of Armenia and illegal armed formations of Armenia located in the Karabakh region” put down their weapons, leave combat positions and military posts and disarm completely. Armenian armed forces units will leave the territory of Azerbaijan, Armenian illegal armed formations will be disbanded.
-
At the same time, all weapons and heavy equipment were surrendered.
-
The implementation of the above actions is ensured in coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
Let’s recall that on September 19, Azerbaijan launched a new military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restore constitutional order.” Aviation and artillery operate in the region.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense has stated that the armed forces of the republic are not in Nagorno-Karabakh. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia does not intend to take military action with Azerbaijan. After his words, protests began in the center of Yerevan.
This morning Karabakh announced a ceasefire and disarmament.
