At a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), the defense ministers of Ukraine, Estonia and Luxembourg held the kick-off meeting of the new coalition within the Ramstein format. The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this today, September 19.
It is noted that 20 states took part in the launch event. Belgium, Denmark, Lithuania and Latvia have already joined the initiative, signing a Declaration of Intent along with Ukraine, Estonia and Luxembourg.
The IT Coalition is an ad hoc group of donor countries led by Estonia and Luxembourg within the UDCG that focuses on providing support to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the areas of IT, communications and cybersecurity. Its mission is to provide a secure and resilient IT infrastructure for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and Defense Forces, which will allow Ukraine to be more effective on the battlefield.
We are grateful to Estonia and Luxembourg for their leadership in promoting this initiative. “I would also like to thank Belgium, Denmark, Lithuania and Latvia for joining our efforts, as well as the Minister of Defense of Luxembourg for announcing the first contribution to the IT coalition,” said Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
The intention to begin this initiative was first announced during the UDCG meeting on June 15th.
The key result of the IT coalition is the creation of a unified digital ecosystem of combat command and control of defense resources for the Defense Forces, which will ensure better coordination and more effective use of the Defense Forces and the use of capabilities provided by partner countries, the Ministry of Defense notes.
