Warsaw stated that the WTO complaint does not make an impression, and Poland does not intend to lift the embargo imposed because of it.
The Polish government will not change its decision to ban grain imports from Ukraine over Kyiv’s claim to the World Trade Organization. This was said by the Polish government spokesman, Piotr Muller, to Polsat News.
“We stand by our position. Such a complaint to the WTO does not impress us, and we do not intend to lift the embargo imposed because of it,” he said.
The official emphasized that the Polish government believes: “Our stance is correct, which follows an analysis of the economic situation, as well as international and EU law.”
At the same time, the representative of the government assured that Poland will continue to support Ukraine in light of the Russian aggression: “We support Ukraine, but it cannot be that if our economic or agricultural interests are threatened, we will retreat in the face of moral. or legal pressure, as in this case.”
Remind you that Ukraine filed a case with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Poland, Hungary and Slovakia due to their refusal to lift the ban on the import of agricultural products. Kyiv is also preparing to take retaliatory measures against the export of fruits and vegetables to Poland. In response, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia abandoned the EC coordination platform’s work on Ukrainian grain due to Ukraine’s possible filing of a WTO claim.
