Over the month, according to media estimates, the volume of assistance of entrepreneurs to the population and defenders of Ukraine increased by $ 30 million.
From the beginning of the war, businessman Rinat Akhmetov provided 100 million euros for the needs of the defenders of Ukraine and for humanitarian assistance to the population, the Financial Times wrote.
“The main task for us today is to help Ukrainians survive and win Ukraine. It is clear that our business and our country are suffering huge losses because of the war,” Akhmetov said.
The publication states the massive damage inflicted by the Russian occupiers on Ukrainian industry, including Akhmetov’s assets – the Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works businesses that were destroyed in Mariupol.
“Akhmetov’s assets suffered extensive damage. The businessman is suing the Russian government for up to $ 20 billion in damages for damaged steel plants in Mariupol, including Azovstal,” the report said.
Earlier it was reported that the entire structure of Akhmetov has provided assistance to Ukraine for 2.4 billion hryvnia. A large part of this amount is humanitarian aid to civilians. The Charitable Foundation alone provided assistance to more than 2.5 million Ukrainians, donated more than 600,000 units of medicines, more than 60,000 blood vessels and more than 187,000 food packages over the 100 days of the war.
In early May, the media estimated Akhmetov’s assistance to the military and Ukrainians at $ 72 million.
