Russia’s budget spent more in January-June this year than it planned to spend in all of 2023.
Over the course of a year and a half of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Russia has spent approximately $167.3 billion. Such calculations, based on data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were published by Forbes on Saturday, September 16.
It was noted that the Russian Federation spends almost 300 million dollars every day on the war in Ukraine. And the Russian budget spent more in January-June this year than it planned to spend in all of 2023.
Despite this, Russia is doubling its military budget, and maintaining Russian soldiers is becoming increasingly difficult.
As the publication notes, direct military costs and the cost of lost Russian equipment during the 18 months of the war (from February 24, 2022 to August 24, 2023) are approximately $167.3 billion. This estimate does not include non-military defense expenditures or the economic losses of the aggressor country.
Among the biggest costs: support for military operations ($51.3 billion), military salaries ($35.1 billion), compensation to families of the dead ($25.6 billion) and wounded ($21 billion) and the cost of destroyed equipment ($34 billion dollars).
The total cost of missiles fired in Ukraine is more than $21.1 billion.
Earlier, NATO said the sanctions were making Russia dependent on “unreliable partners.”
