Alexander Kornienko believes that Ukraine will have a budget for next year already in mid-November.
The Verkhovna Rada can adopt the state budget of Ukraine for 2024 before the deadline – before December. This is what First Deputy Head of Parliament Alexander Kornienko said in a commentary Ukrinform on Saturday, September 16th.
“According to the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada, before September 15 of each year, the Cabinet of Ministers must submit a draft State Budget for the following year to the parliament for consideration. Within five days , the Verkhovna Rada must hear a report on this project. Accordingly, it will happen no later than September 20, but we will not disclose the dates of the meetings.” , – said the officer.
According to him, after hearing the draft budget, people’s representatives have two weeks to submit amendments and proposals. After that, the committee must make budget conclusions, which must be approved by parliament – this is effectively the first reading of the budget.
“If we put all these deadlines together, I think approximately in mid-October we will go to the vote on the first reading,” said Kornienko.
He added that after that, the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee will spend some time preparing the draft for consideration in the second reading.
“Traditionally, in the ninth convocation there are no budget nights. We survived this phenomenon. We always adopted the budget maximum until the beginning of December, in the first days of the month,” he added.
In his opinion, this year “it will be earlier,” especially, “the country will have a budget for next year already in mid-November.”
Let’s recall that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft state budget for 2024 with own revenues of the general budget fund of 1 trillion 560 billion UAH and expenses of the general fund of 3 trillion 108 billion UAH.
As we wrote earlier, the government submitted the state budget bill for 2024 to the Verkhovna Rada.
