Bulk carriers Resilient Africa and Aroyat confirmed their readiness to use the route to the entrance to the port of Chernomorsk for the loading of almost 20 thousand tons of wheat.
The first civilian ships took advantage of the temporary corridor to Ukrainian ports. This was announced by the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov on Facebook on Saturday, September 16.
“Bulk carriers Resilient Africa and Aroyat have confirmed their readiness to use the route to the entrance to the port of Chernomorsk for loading about 20 thousand tons of wheat for the countries of Africa and Asia,” he wrote.
According to the minister, these vessels are under the flag of Palau, and their crew consists of citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ukraine.
He recalled that the corridor previously established by the navigation order of the Ukrainian Navy was used to evacuate ships that were in the ports of Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny at the time of the full invasion of the Russian Federation. Since August 15, five ships have used the temporary corridor.
Let’s recall that in July the Kremlin announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement, which was valid for one year and allowed the export of Ukrainian food from Black Sea ports.
After that, Russia began attacking southern Ukraine and destroying port infrastructure involved in the grain deal.
But in recent days, Russian ships have also suffered numerous attacks.
