The first batch of four American aircraft is already at the Danish Skrydstrup airbase.

Four American-made F-35 fighter jets landed on Thursday, September 15, at an air base in Denmark. This is the first batch of aircraft to replace the F-16 fighter, some of which Denmark has promised to transfer to Ukraine. This was reported by the AP news agency.

“Four F-35 fighter jets landed Thursday at an air base in Denmark as part of the first batch of American-made aircraft the country has ordered to replace its aging F-16 fleet, some of which have been promised by Denmark to be handed over to Ukraine,” the report said.

Officers and officers gathered at Skrydstrup Air Base. Fighters wearing the colors of the Danish Air Force made several passes before landing.

Ukraine has requested Western fighter jets to counter the Russian invasion that began in February 2022. Recently, the United States allowed Denmark and the Netherlands to provide Ukraine with American-made aircraft.

Denmark has ordered a total of 27 F-35 fighter jets at a cost of $2.2 billion. They will replace the country’s fleet of 30 F-16s, which are more than 40 years old, as part of a transition phase that will last until the end of 2025.

Following their ceremonial arrival, the first four aircraft will be officially handed over to Denmark by US manufacturer Lockheed Martin in a ceremony on 1 October.

As you know, Denmark will provide Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighters, six of them by the end of this year.

We remind you that Denmark also announced the provision of a new military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 5.8 Danish kroner (over $833 million).
