The attackers stole Chinese vases, plates, and cups dating from the 16th to 19th centuries. The police are looking for witnesses to the crime.
In Cologne, unidentified persons looted the Shao-Lan Hertel Museum of East Asian Art. The total value of the stolen exhibits is around one million euros, DW reported on Thursday, September 14.
The museum management reported that among the stolen valuables were Chinese vases, plates and cups from the 16th to 19th centuries.
It was learned that it was around midnight when a security guard of the museum heard a suspicious noise at the entrance of the museum and saw two men running away. They have not been traced, police are looking for witnesses to the crime.
So far, the attackers are known to have broken a window overlooking the parking lot at night and entered the exhibition halls through it. Police are said to have been surprised at how easily criminals can enter the area. It is not yet clear if the alarm and video surveillance were working or if the attackers were able to deactivate them, as has happened in previous robberies at other museums across the country.
We remind you that in 2019 the Dresden Museum was robbed of one billion euros. The thieves first turned off the electricity, then the alarm. Entering the room through a window, they took antique jewelry worth a billion euros.
